Face data
What face data does RegretCam collect? When you upload a selfie for a hair try-on preview, RegretCam processes the entire selfie image, which naturally includes your face. We do not extract, store, or create face embeddings, biometric templates, face vectors, face landmarks, or any facial recognition data from your photo.
Planned uses of face data. Your uploaded selfie (including your face) is used only to generate the hairstyle, hair color, or beard previews you request within the app. The photo is used exclusively for AI image generation and is not used for identification, authentication, analytics, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to your preview request.
Sharing with third parties. Your photo (including your face) is sent to OpenRouter, a third-party AI service, solely to generate the hair try-on preview images. OpenRouter processes the image in transit and returns the generated result to RegretCam. Your face is not stored by OpenRouter, not retained after processing, and not used to train AI models.
Where is face data stored? Your uploaded photo and generated preview images are temporarily stored on RegretCam's secure servers (hosted by Supabase) so you can access your preview results and share private polls. Your face is not stored in any facial recognition database or biometric storage system.
How long is face data retained? Your photo and generated previews are retained as long as your account is active and the associated preview pack or poll has not been deleted. When you delete a preview, poll, or your account, the associated images (including your face) are deleted from our servers. Cached copies and backup records may take additional time to disappear from every system. You can request deletion at any time by contacting hello@regretcam.com or using the in-app Privacy controls.
The privacy policy sections below provide additional detail on these topics. For deletion and retention, see "Deletion and retention." For AI generation details, see "AI generation & third-party service." For service providers, see "Service providers."
Photos and generations
RegretCam uses uploaded photos to generate hairstyle, hair color, and beard previews. We do not use the app to provide beauty scores, public ratings, or attractiveness rankings.
Photo previews work best when the uploaded image shows your face, current hair, hairline, and jaw clearly. Uploaded photos and generated results are used to provide the preview experience, troubleshoot failed generations, protect the service from abuse, and let you access your own results in the app.
Generated previews are decision aids. They are not biometric identification, medical advice, cosmetic advice, or a guarantee of how a real haircut, color, or beard will look.
Account and purchase data
If you sign in, RegretCam may process account identifiers such as your email address, Apple sign-in identifier, device information needed for app operation, and subscription status. Purchases are handled through Apple and RevenueCat, so RegretCam can recognize whether Premium access is active.
We use this information to unlock Premium features, sync access across sessions, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
Private polls
Poll links are intended to be private and unlisted. Anyone with the link may vote, so only share links with people you trust.
A poll may include preview images, vote totals, comments, timestamps, and a shareable result card. Friends do not need to install RegretCam to vote, but anyone who has the link may be able to open the poll until it is deleted or disabled.
Deletion and retention
You can request deletion or support for photo, account, or poll data by contacting us. We may retain limited records when needed for security, fraud prevention, payment reconciliation, legal obligations, or support history.
When a preview, account, or poll is deleted, cached copies and backup records may take additional time to disappear from every system.
AI generation & third-party service
To create hair try-on previews, RegretCam sends your uploaded photo to OpenRouter, a third-party AI service that processes the image and returns the generated result. Your photo is sent to OpenRouter solely for the purpose of generating the Safe, Bold, and Wild previews you requested.
OpenRouter does not store, retain, or use your photos to train AI models. The photo is processed in transit and the generated result is returned to RegretCam. OpenRouter provides data protection equivalent to what is described in this policy. You are asked for explicit permission in the app before your photo is sent to OpenRouter for the first time, and you can review this consent at any time from the Privacy screen.
Service providers
RegretCam uses service providers for app hosting, authentication, database storage, AI generation (OpenRouter), subscription status (RevenueCat), email delivery (Resend), analytics, and crash or error diagnostics. These providers process data only as needed to operate the app and related website.
Your choices
Use a normal selfie, avoid uploading sensitive images, and share private polls only with people you trust. You can restore purchases through the App Store, contact us for support, and request deletion when the preview is no longer useful.
You can also reduce risk by using recent photos only for style decisions, avoiding public poll sharing, and deleting previews once the haircut, color, or beard decision is finished.
Children and sensitive use
RegretCam is intended for people old enough to manage an App Store subscription and understand photo-sharing choices. Do not upload photos of other people without permission, and do not use the service for harassment, impersonation, face scoring, or public shaming.
